New BYD Dynasty large SUV to debut in camouflage
A new full-size SUV under the BYD Dynasty series has appeared in camouflage, indicating that it will be launched before the end of 2025. The new model is believed to be the mass-produced version of the Dynasty-D concept car launched at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show.

Exterior design is in line with the Dynasty-D concept
Images obtained from D-Auto show that the silhouette and main styling elements of the car are very close to the Dynasty-D concept and have been adjusted for mass production. At the front, the SUV is characterized by a horizontal light bar integrated into the sculpted upper grille area. The split headlamp setup and trapezoidal lower air intake include horizontal decorative elements and millimeter-wave radar equipment.

On the side, the SUV has a high waistline and full-length character line, supplemented by floating side mirrors and hidden door handles. The side-view camera is installed between the fender and the front door panel, and the charging port is located on the rear fender. The rear of the vehicle remains heavily camouflaged, but the wide light strip seen on the concept is expected to appear on the production version.
Advanced driver assistance and drone systems on test model

One notable detail on the test car is the roof-mounted lidar unit and the triple camera array behind the windshield. These components suggest that the SUV will be equipped with BYD's "DiPilot Eye B" driver assistance system, which supports urban navigation, highway driving assistance, and automatic parking functions.

The prototype also includes BYD's in-house developed drone system called "Lingyuan". This drone platform has been shown before as part of a concept car, but has not yet been introduced in the production model. Its presence may indicate that the prototype represents a high-spec variant.

Interior features a three-screen setup and family layout

Interior photos show a floating central touchscreen and a large digital instrument cluster. A similar-sized passenger-side screen is also expected, as well as BYD's signature flat-bottom steering wheel and stickless shifter on the steering column.

The Dynasty-D concept features a three-screen setup and wireless phone charging on the center console, as well as six- and seven-seat configurations. These elements will likely carry over to the production model.

No official powertrain details yet

BYD has not disclosed powertrain specs. However, as a reference point, the current Tang L - another large SUV in the Dynasty lineup - is available in both pure electric and plug-in hybrid configurations. According to D-Auto, its PHEV version is equipped with a 1.5T engine and up to 200 kW front and rear motors, while the BEV version offers up to 670 kilometers of CLTC range and supports fast charging via dual ports.

Competitors include the AITO M9 and Li Auto L9.

It will likely compete with domestic high-end full-size SUVs such as the Aito M9, Li Auto L9 and Lynk&Co 900. More official information, including final design and powertrain details, is expected to be released later this year.
