Used cars are hotly exported
Since the beginning of this year, driven by the scrapping and renewal and old-for-new policies, the automobile consumption market has been further activated. At the same time, the used car market has also rebounded significantly, achieving year-on-year and month-on-month growth in transaction volume. The reporter learned that in addition to the domestic circulation of the used car market accounting for the vast majority, a part of the replaced used cars has gone to the international market.

Used car exports have become a new highlight of my country's foreign trade

The reporter came to the largest used car trading market in Guangzhou and saw many international faces on the scene. The staff told reporters that foreign merchants who came to purchase are very interested in Chinese cars, especially new energy vehicles, and they are particularly decisive in placing orders.

At present, my country's used car exports have moved from pilot projects to full liberalization, and all regions have shown a high-speed growth trend.
Jiangsu Province exported more than 3,500 vehicles in the first half of 2024, with an export value of about 80 million US dollars;

Tianjin's export value was nearly 4 billion yuan, an increase of 2.3 times;

Inner Mongolia exported a total of 6,251 used cars in the first three quarters, with an export value of more than 100 million US dollars.

The used car export market is now a bright spot, and the export volume has expanded year by year. Now the country's used car exports have exceeded 160 countries and regions. China's exported brands have gradually established a certain brand image in the used car market.
Used car export
Five years ago, my country piloted the export of used cars in 10 cities. In 2019, when it started, only 3,036 vehicles were exported; in the next two years, it exceeded 10,000 vehicles; by 2022, this figure directly jumped to 69,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of more than 350%.
According to the latest data from the China Automobile Dealers Association, the annual export of used cars in 2023 has reached 270,000 vehicles, and it is expected to hit the 400,000 mark in 2024.

Platforms are built in many places to increase the scale of exports

In February this year, the Ministry of Commerce and other five departments issued an announcement to carry out second-hand car export business nationwide. At the same time, all regions are also actively building platforms to promote the industry to gradually move towards scale.

The Shanghai Port Second-hand Car Export Comprehensive Service Center was officially completed and put into use. As the first second-hand car export inspection point in the port area in the country, the "Service Center" can provide one-stop motor vehicle registration and port logistics comprehensive services for second-hand car export companies in Shanghai and surrounding provinces and cities, reduce the risks and transportation costs brought by multiple movements of export vehicles, and greatly speed up the inspection and export efficiency of second-hand cars.

A staff member of a second-hand car export company in Chongqing: Some domestically produced mid-to-high-end models are now very popular with overseas customers. At present, our business scope has expanded to the Middle East, Dubai, and some countries in Europe. These customers have a great demand for our Chinese new energy brand models.

Multiple policies support the export of second-hand cars to speed up again

In recent years, various regions have successively introduced support policies to provide support and guidance for second-hand car export companies. A number of replicable and popularizable experiences have been formed.

It is understood that various policies have been introduced across the country to strive to provide a better business environment for second-hand car export companies. Convenient measures such as paperless license application, national customs clearance integration, and transfer pending export have greatly reduced the operating costs of enterprises and improved business efficiency. In the future, under the guidance of more perfect policies, China's used cars will not only "go out", but also "go in", establish a good reputation overseas, and form a better business model.
