Recently, the topic of "used car exports" has been very popular. Today, I will briefly answer several questions that are currently being asked!
1. Does the national policy support it?
In the relevant announcements published by the Ministry of Commerce and the General Administration of Customs, it is pointed out that used cars are restricted export goods by the state, but as long as an export license is applied for.
As early as 2021, relevant used car export policies were promulgated, covering market analysis and some cases of major used car exporting countries such as Japan, and stated that my country's used car exports face many favorable conditions, with great potential for future development and promising prospects. In recent years, my country has gradually improved the relevant laws and regulations on used car exports, and the "used car export" process and laws are gradually being improved.

2. Which countries have greater demand?
At present, due to international sanctions from some countries and other reasons, domestic automobile production has been restricted, and there is a great demand for imported fuel vehicles. Secondly, the demand in some countries with underdeveloped industrial product productivity, such as Mexico and Brazil, is also considerable. Some countries also have some demand for the import of used cars. Among them, Central Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East are the main export areas of used cars in my country.
3. Which one has a greater demand, oil cars or new energy vehicles?
According to the statistics of the Ministry of Commerce in 2023, in the export of used cars, fuel cars and new energy vehicles go hand in hand, with 136,000 and 138,000 vehicles exported respectively, which is almost the same in terms of quantity. However, the export amount is quite different, generating US$2.71 billion and US$4.17 billion respectively. It can be seen that the average export price of new energy used cars is higher than that of traditional fuel used cars.
Therefore, from the data, whether it is fuel cars or new energy vehicles, the demand in the international market is actually not much different, and specific analysis is required. After determining the export destination, it is necessary to determine which cars are more popular locally based on objective geographical factors and consulting relevant laws and regulations and market conditions.
4. What are the risks of exporting used cars?
As long as it involves international trade, there are certain risks. For example, losses may be caused by exchange rate fluctuations due to financial or political factors; problems may occur during the long journey and logistics delivery; cross-border remittances may arrive slowly and the capital chain may be tight; or there may even be risks such as the destination country raising tariffs or setting up other trade barriers. Therefore, before deciding to export used cars, you must do a thorough market environment investigation to avoid unnecessary losses.
